Sunday ; Sunny and ... warm ? Well, not exactly warm, but ... you know ... improving !
We slept very late this morning. Then had a lazy day. I reset clocks ... < rolling
eyes > ... did some very minor maintenance on the truck, we went for a couple of long walks with Ozzie, and I spent way too much time standing around outside chatting with neighbours. In the evening I began working on our income tax returns.
Monday ; Sunny and ... mild ? Feels somewhat like spring !
Today we sadly remember Sully the cat, who died three years ago at 18½ years of age. I'd better go and give sick ( but improving ) Emma an extra hug !
This morning I prepared a trailer towing quote, the third quote, each to a different destination, for the same individual, in the last week. After this third quote, I expected him to hire me to tow his trailer this coming weekend. And by 8:30 PM tonight, I still had not heard back from him yet. HMPH !
This afternoon we went to the swimming pool and did cardiac rehabilitation aquatic exercises. In the evening I worked on preparing our income tax returns.

Another lazy day. I finally heard from my potential trailer towing client, who postponed his ( maybe ) trailer move for a week. This morning I did regular weekly pet dental and ear care. When we went for a long walk with Ozzie I returned a book to the library in the lodge and picked up a couple of new books to read. In the evening I continued working on our income tax returns.
Wednesday ; Light rain until mid-afternoon.
This morning we drove into Keremeos to buy some coinage at the credit union. In the afternoon Joanne did laundry, and our neighbour / friend Jeanine and her little dog Charlie came over for a visit. In the evening I did a bit more work on our income tax returns. I've done as much as I can until I receive a few more tax information slips. Joanne made my favourite dinner which we ate while watching Survivor and 9-1-1.

After lunch we headed to Penticton, to attend the monthly Kitchen Stove Film Series foreign art film. Today's movie was "Visages, Villages" translated as "Faces, Places", a movie made in France. Very interesting documentary. After the movie we went to Canadian Tire to buy an item, then refilled the minivan with fuel before going to Joey's Seafood Only Restaurant for dinner.
Friday ; Sunny and cool ... spring is arriving.
This morning we trimmed Emma's claws. HMPH ... unhappy cat ! This afternoon we went to the swimming pool to do cardiac rehabilitation aquatic exercises. HMPH ... hard work ! This evening I used the barbecue to cook supper for the first time since last summer. AHHHHH ... great barbecued chicken !
I prepared another trailer towing quote today. Lots of trailer towing "tire kickers" lately, an annual, early spring phenomenon. People have this ludicrous expectation that they can hire someone to tow their trailer for less money than it would cost if they did it themselves ! HA HA HA ! Good luck with that !

Sunday ; Cloudy and cold, snowing in late afternoon.
Emma is sick ! Either she has an upper respiratory infection or ... < sigh > ... she has aspiration pneumonia. Caused by me administering medications to her via syringe.
< sigh > I'm very worried about Emma and feeling sick with guilt over the possibility that I may be responsible for her illness.
This afternoon I resumed caulking work on the leaking shower enclosure. I feel in over my head on this project !
I posted my weekly journal to my blog. I reconciled our month end bank statements and updated investment files.
Monday ; Penticton
Cloudy, temperature at freezing level.
After an early lunch I left for Penticton, for my twenty-eighth ( of thirty ) cardiac rehabilitation session. For the first time since I started the cardiac rehabilitation program, Joanne did not come to Penticton with me. When I was finished at the gym
I went to an automotive specialty shop to enquire about upgraded headlights for the truck. Driving in the dark on the way to and from Prince George ... I couldn't see squat !
In the evening I prepared Joanne's Old Age Security pension application form. It can now be submitted, eleven months before her sixty-fifth birthday. And I prepared and submitted another quote for a long distance trailer towing job, this one to be done near the end of the month.
Emma is still quite ill with what we are convinced is an upper respiratory viral infection.

This morning I drove into Keremeos to get a haircut and beard trim. Before returning home I went to the Post Office to buy postage. Back at home I brushed Ozzie's ( few remaining ) teeth and cleaned and treated his ears. I seem to have eliminated his chronic ear infections, at least temporarily. Emma is still ill, but seems to be slowly improving. < sigh > Wish us luck !

Early this afternoon I headed to Penticton, for my second last cardiac rehabilitation session. Joanne stayed home, nursing a backache. While at my fitness session, I was asked to do my end of program evaluation with one of the physiotherapists. And I was put on the schedule to attend the cardiac rehabilitation "reunion", a group medical evaluation session held about three months after "graduating" from this "heart attack school" as it in known by some of its attendees. Friday will be my thirtieth and final session of cardiac rehabilitation.
Before leaving Penticton I went shopping for headlights at Lordco, an automotive parts store. I was back home just in time for the 5:30 PM newscast. After supper we watched Survivor and 9-1-1.
I just finished taking Ozzie for his bedtime walk ( at 10:30 PM ). HA HA HA ... you should have seen the beeline he made for home, with his tail tucked between his legs, when a nearby pack of coyotes began to howl !

I retrieved income tax receipts in order to start preparing our income tax returns. And
I began to monitor and record my fluid intake, after having a discussion yesterday with the nutritionist at the cardiac rehabilitation program about my ongoing edema ( fluid retention ) problem.

At 12:45 PM we left home, drove to Keremeos, refilled our five gallon water jug, then headed to Penticton for my thirtieth and final cardiac rehabilitation session. Congratulations, Daniel ! You are now a graduate of "heart attack school". HA HA
HA ! While I was at the gym ... for the last time ... Joanne went grocery shopping at Superstore, then refilled the minivan with fuel before picking me up at 3:45 PM. We went shopping at Wal-Mart before returning home.
After a supper of perogies, we watched a documentary on the life and career of Eric Clapton. How the hell did he survive all that booze and drugs ? ! ?

February 25 to March 3, 2018 ; home to Prince George & return
Sunday ; Sunny, temperature slightly above freezing.
This afternoon Joanne helped me with shower enclosure "leak detection". I have been unsuccessfully battling a leak of water underneath the shower enclosure, between the bottom of the shower enclosure walls and the floor / base. < sigh > It seems as if I will have to remove "old" caulking" to find the problem. And the "old" caulking does not want to be removed < sigh > !
Monday ; Penticton
This afternoon we went to Penticton. I attended session twenty-six ( of thirty ) of my cardiac rehabilitation fitness program. Joanne went shopping while I was at the gym. After she picked me up we went to Wal-Mart so that I could buy some socks.
I was hired today to transport a trailer to Prince George. However ... there was some misunderstanding / difficulty regarding use of the dealer's license plate or purchase of a temporary transport permit. I don't think the problems can be overcome, and the job will likely be cancelled tomorrow morning.
Tuesday ; home to 100 Mile House
This morning I received word around 8 AM that the trailer delivery job to Prince George was a "go". We scrambled around for a few hours getting ready to go, and left home around 11:30 AM, Ozzie with us, and Emma left at home to fend for herself.
We drove halfway to Penticton, to Twin Lakes, and picked up the trailer to be delivered. There was a bit of a delay while the dealer "wrapped" the trailer using bubble wrap on the front, and "stretch wrap" around and around and around the trailer, in an attempt to protect the brand new trailer from the elements. It didn't really work all that well !
We had the trailer hooked up and were on the way from Twin Lakes at 1 PM. North on Hwy. 3A to Kaleden, Hwy. 97 to Penticton to Summerland to Peachland. West on Coquihalla Okanagan Connector to Merritt. We refilled with diesel and bought some groceries at Extra Foods in Merritt. North on the Coquihalla ... aptly named the Highway Thru Hell ! Terrible winter conditions on the Coquihalla. At one point our truck with large trailer attached began to slip and slide on the highway. Very scary ! Needed all my best driving skills, and lots of luck, to bring it back under control. Just before reaching Kamloops we turned west on Hwy.1 to Cache Creek, then north on Hwy. 97 again. We reached 100 Mile House at 7 PM. I was tired and needed to stop for the night.
We checked into the 100 Mile House Motel. Ate supper in our room while watching TV.
The shrink wrap around the trailer slowly peeled off during the day. Every time we stopped I had to cut off more "tails" of shrink wrap blowing and dragging behind the trailer.
This was our first road trip with Ozzie. He did fine until it got dark outside at 6 PM. Then he seemed to suffer a bit of a panic attack. He seemed very worried that we were "lost".
Wednesday ; post-operative 5 months ; 100 Mile House to Prince George and return
Overcast, temperature well below freezing this far north.
This morning we were up by 7:30 AM and checked out of our motel room around 9:30 AM. We continued north on Hwy. 97. We stopped in Quesnel to refill with diesel. We arrived in Prince George around 2 PM. The buyer of the trailer met us at the Superstore parking lot, I unhitched his new trailer from our truck, and helped him hitch it up to his truck. Eight hundred kilometre ( five hundred mile ) trailer delivery job completed ! We were heading south out of Prince George at 2:30 PM.
We refilled with diesel again in Quesnel on our way back. We stopped in Williams Lake at 5:30 PM to have an early supper at Denny's. We left Williams Lake at 6:30 PM and arrived in 100 Mile House at 7:30 PM. We checked into the motel next door to the one we stayed in last night, just to try something different, and were ready to watch the two hour season premiere of Survivor at 8 PM.
Thursday ; 100 Mile House to home
We left 100 Mile House this morning about 9:30 AM, continuing south on Hwy. 97. At Cache Creek we turned west on Trans Canada Highway 1. As we approached Kamloops and the Coquihalla Highway, not surprisingly, we encountered snow blizzard conditions. There was a radio report that the Coquihalla Highway was closed southbound because of ( ANOTHER ) multi-vehicle accident, an event that seems to take place about twice a week during the winter on the Highway Thru Hell ! We decided to drive a few miles into Kamloops and turn south on Hwy. 5A, the very winding "old" two lane undivided highway from Kamloops to Merritt, with a much lower speed limit than the Coquihalla.
Yes, it was blizzard conditions, but ... with an 80 km./hour speed limit, and few commercial trucks, it was not that difficult a drive. As opposed to driving on the Coquihalla, with bumper to bumper commercial trucks driving at 130 km./hr. regardless of weather conditions ! ! ! At Merritt we refilled with diesel at the Extra Foods Fuel Bar. The blizzard conditions persisted eastbound on the Coquihalla Okanagan Connector and southbound on Hwy. 5A again to Princeton. We turned east on Hwy. 3 at Princeton, and were home an hour later, at 4 PM.
This trailer delivery job wasn't about making money so much as it was about proving to myself that after five months I have recovered sufficiently from cardiac bypass surgery to resume the hard work of trailer deliveries. I passed the test !

Blizzard conditions starting in late afternoon.
We left home at 12:30 PM heading for Penticton and my twenty-seventh cardiac rehabilitation session. We stopped in Keremeos to refill our five gallon water jug. We stopped at Twin Lakes to return the dealer's license plate and pick up payment for our trailer delivery job to Prince George. Joanne dropped me off at the cardiac rehabilitation gym and went grocery shopping at Superstore. After grocery shopping she refilled the minivan with fuel then picked me up at the gym at 3:45 PM.
By then it was raining heavily in Penticton and as we drove out of the city the heavy rain turned into a snow blizzard. On our way home down Hwy. 3A we stopped to provide assistance to a small car that had spun off the road and into the ditch. The two ladies in the car were a bit rattled, but okay. Nothing for them to do but wait for a tow truck !
The closer we got to home, the worse the storm became. We arrived home at 4:45 PM, about fifteen minutes after the power went out ! A semi-trailer ... ( of course ! ) ... had crashed into a power pole nearby. The power was out from 4:30 PM until 12:20 AM ! It was a dark, cold ... and crabby ... evening !
Saturday ; Partially sunny, temperature just above freezing, yesterday's huge dump of snow melting.
Emma seems to have an upper respiratory infection. A "kitty cat cold". I am administering a cold medication for pets that we bought in Mexico. She hates it ! Poor baby Emma.
Just before lunch we headed into town ( Keremeos ) to wash the road grime off the truck. YUCK ... filthy big truck ! Back at home, after lunch, we gave Ozzie a bath. YUCK ... stinky little dog ! HA HA HA !
In the evening I processed some photos and worked on month end banking and investment reconciliations. After supper we watched Saturday Night Live.

At 1 PM we left for Penticton, and my twenty-third of thirty cardiac rehabilitation fitness sessions. While I was at the gym Joanne ran shopping errands at Wal-Mart and Dollar Tree. She picked me up at 3:45 PM and we went to Rona to buy one item before returning home. We spent the evening watching Olympics coverage.

When we cleaned and treated Ozzie's ears this morning the stubborn infection in his left ear seems to finally be cleared. Let's hope we can keep it at bay. This afternoon
I recaulked the shower enclosure, with lots of assistance from Joanne. Thank you, my dear. I currently ( and perhaps permanently ) lack some of the flexibility needed to contort around inside the shower enclosure, trying to caulk the bottom.

Low overcast, gloomy, very cold.
We left for Penticton at 1 PM, for my twenty-fourth cardiac rehabilitation session. Six more to go ! Joanne ran errands while I was at the gym. As always. This morning Joanne drove into Keremeos to refill our five gallon water jug. I had to stay home to ... you know ... nap with the animals. HA HA HA ! I provided my first trailer towing quote of 2018 today, which might result in my first trailer towing job of 2018 next week, and my first trailer towing job since cardiac bypass surgery.
This afternoon our neighbour / friend Jeanine came over with her little dog Charlie so that I could trim Charlie's nails. She paid for my dog nail trimming service with a bag of home made peanut butter cookies. MMMMM ! And for the third day in a row I caulked inside our shower enclosure, trying to eliminate a leak.

I did my fitness work while Joanne went grocery shopping at Superstore. We were back home by 5 PM.

At 11 AM we picked up our neighbour / friend Jeanine and headed to Penticton to attend the OneWorld Festival, a young ( this was its fifth year ) multicultural event, showcasing food and entertainment from many different countries. Sort of like a very miniature version of Winnipeg's Folklorama. We wandered around the cultural displays for a couple of hours, and had interesting foods from Jamaica, Greece, China, Nepal and Syria for lunch while we were there. We were back home around 4 PM.
After a brief nap I resumed / continued caulking in our shower enclosure, still trying to eliminate a leak < sigh >. In the evening I watched the Olympic men's hockey gold medal game.
Today we learned of the death of our neighbour Betty's husband Dave, who has lived for the last few years in an Alzheimer's patients' care facility in Keremeos village. Farewell, Dave. Rest in peace.

She picked me up at 3:45 PM and we went to Rona to buy one item before returning home. We spent the evening watching Olympics coverage.

When we cleaned and treated Ozzie's ears this morning the stubborn infection in his left ear seems to finally be cleared. Let's hope we can keep it at bay. This afternoon
I recaulked the shower enclosure, with lots of assistance from Joanne. Thank you, my dear. I currently ( and perhaps permanently ) lack some of the flexibility needed to contort around inside the shower enclosure, trying to caulk the bottom.

Today was a provincial holiday in British Columbia, so ... the cardiac rehabilitation program in Penticton was closed for the day. SO ... I went to the fitness room in our swimming pool building and did cardiac rehabilitation work with Joanne as my exercise companion. While we worked in the fitness room Joanne also did laundry. When I was finished exercising and while Joanne was finishing the laundry I went to our
neighbour / friend Jeanine's to reprogram her satellite TV remote control.
In the afternoon and evening I did some real estate online research and we watched the Olympics on TV.
Tuesday ; Mardi Gras
Cloudy, cold, windy.
I had a slightly lazy day. Well ... I suppose most of my "at home" days are slightly lazy. This one was more lazy than usual. HA HA HA ! Joanne went into Keremeos to run some errands.
This morning when I cleaned and treated Ozzie's infected left ear it looked cleaner than it has been at any point in the last nine months. WOO-HOO ! Maybe I have finally defeated the infection ? ! ?
Wednesday ; Valentine's Day ; Penticton
A few inches of snow fell overnight. DARN ! The previous snow had all melted.
After an early lunch we left for Penticton shortly after noon. I had an appointment with my cardiologist at the cardiac rehabilitation gym before my fitness session. While I was at the gym from 1:15 PM until 3:30 PM Joanne ran errands in Penticton. I saw my cardiologist then did my fitness session. Twenty-one done, nine to go. Joanne picked me up at 3:30 PM and we drove to Keremeos where I dropped off a new prescription order at the pharmacy. We were back at home around 5 PM.
We walked Ozzie, watched the news, watched "9-1-1", then had supper while watching the Canada versus USA Olympics women's hockey game. WOW ! Close game ! Canada won, but didn't really deserve the win. They were outplayed by the Americans. After the hockey game we watched a two hour episode of Amazing Race.
Thursday ; Penticton

We left home at 2 PM headed for Penticton. We stopped in Keremeos where I picked up a new prescription at the pharmacy. In Penticton we went to Landmark Cinemas where we were attending the Kitchen Stove Film Festival presentation of the movie Film Stars Don't Die In Liverpool. I liked the movie. The lady seated on my left ( not
Joanne ) ... and I ... cried for the last fifteen minutes of the movie. Joanne didn't ! HA HA HA ! Obviously I thought it was a more powerful film than Joanne did.
After the movie ended at 6 PM we went for dinner to Shades On Main, a family diner style restaurant. Food was good, prices were a bit high. We were back home at 8 PM and spent the rest of the evening watching the Olympics.
Friday ; Penticton
Mostly cloudy, temperature slightly above freezing. Except for the zero visibility ice pellet blizzard from Kaleden to Penticton airport as we were driving to my cardiac rehabilitation program.
We left home about 1 PM, arriving at the South Okanagan Events Centre at 2 PM. Joanne ran grocery shopping and banking errands while I was at the gym until 4 PM. She picked me up and we were back home at 5 PM. We ate supper while watching the Olympics men's hockey game between Canada and Czech Republic. AWWWWW ... Canada lost !
Saturday ; Cloudy, snow falling early in the day.
This morning at 11 AM we took Ozzie for a walk to the other side of our RV park, to visit with a neighbour that we don't really know. Yesterday she offered to put a "button hole" in the top of Ozzie's sweater to facilitate hooking his leash to the "D" ring on his harness underneath the sweater. We visited with her Persian cat Bonnie while she sewed the button hole into Ozzie's sweater, a job that we thought would take about ten minutes, but ... took an hour and forty-five minutes ... < raising eyebrows > !
After a late lunch and a nap for me we headed to the swimming pool building. While Joanne did laundry I did cardiac rehabilitation exercises in the swimming pool. About halfway through my exercises Joanne joined me. After exercising we soaked for awhile in the hot tub, then returned home to walk Ozzie just before it got dark.
During and after supper we watched some Olympics coverage on TV. Joanne was very tired and went to bed around 9:30 PM. HMPH ! Half a cardiac rehabilitation exercise session and she's exhausted. HA HA HA !

February 4 to 10, 2018
Sunday ; Overcast, snow melting.
This afternoon Joanne wanted to visit our neighbour / friend Jeanine while she
( Joanne ) was doing laundry. We were going to walk over there with Ozzie, but it was raining, so we drove over in the minivan. We came out of our warm house, into the cold outdoors, into our minivan, drove to Jeanine's, out of the minivan back into the cold outdoors, then into Jeanine's warm house. Where Ozzie promptly peed on the living room floor !
< sigh > Note to self ; always allow dog to relieve himself before climbing into car ... or other people's homes !
Around 3 PM I left Joanne visiting Jeanine and walked home with Ozzie. I spent the rest of the afternoon and into the evening flipping channels back and forth, simultaneously watching both the Super Bowl and the Scotties Tournament Of Hearts women's curling championship. Where once again Manitoba faced Manitoba Wild Card. And once again, Manitoba won.
After both games were finished, we watched This Is Us while eating supper.
Monday ; Penticton
Overcast ... intermittent light rain.
We drove both vehicles to Penticton. On the way there we stopped in Keremeos to refill our five gallon water jug, and I bought a U.S.$ money order at the Post Office. In Penticton we dropped off the minivan at Westech Automotive to have the "check engine" light diagnosed. We drove the truck to the South Okanagan Events Centre and while I spent a couple of hours at the cardiac rehabilitation program Joanne took the truck and went shopping at Wal-Mart and Safeway. She picked me up at 3:30 PM and we returned to Westech Automotive. OH ... with a short stop on the way, at Tim Horton's, so that Joanne could use a "buy one doughnut get another free" coupon.

The minivan requires a fairly simple but quite expensive repair. < sigh > Story of my life ! We left the minivan at Westech Automotive to be repaired over the next couple of days, and we returned home in the truck.
Tuesday ; Intermittent light rain.
Today was a day of routine pet care and home maintenance chores.
Wednesday ; Penticton
Overcast. Intermittent light rain. Today was a long, tiring day in Penticton.
We left home at 10 AM heading for a dentist in Penticton that we have not seen before. We both had dental cleanings, scheduled one after the other. My cleaning ( and examination by the dentist ) took quite a bit longer than I had expected. The cleaning was satisfactory. Too bad the rather old hygienist had body odour ! By the time my cleaning was finished there was not enough time left for me to wait for Joanne's cleaning to be finished. While Joanne had her dental cleaning I left to go to my cardiac rehabilitation program.
When I was finished at the gym I picked up Joanne at Safeway, across the street from the dentist's office. We went to Westech Automotive and picked up the repaired minivan. We took both vehicles to be refilled with fuel then drove back home, arriving about 5:30 PM.
Late in the evening after supper we watched a two hour episode of Amazing Race.
My dental cleaning and examination cost about five times more than we pay in
Mexico ! Joanne's dental cleaning cost about three and a half times more than we pay in Mexico !

It is with sadness that we remember Bo today on what would have been his 14th birthday.
We left home shortly before 1 PM heading for Penticton and my twentieth of thirty cardiac rehabilitation sessions. While I was at the gym Joanne went grocery shopping at Superstore and Safeway. She picked me up at the gym at 4 PM and we went to Mark's Work Warehouse to make a purchase before heading home. We arrived home at Riverside RV Park Resort at 5:30 PM.
After supper we watched the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Korea.
Saturday ; Happy 69th Birthday to my sister Sharon
Sunny and cold. It was nice to walk in sunshine !
I phoned my sister twice today to wish her Happy Birthday, but she wasn't home. This afternoon we went to our park's swimming pool and practiced the series of pool exercises given to me yesterday by one of the cardiac rehabilitation program's physiotherapists. These pool exercises might be part of my ongoing fitness program after the cardiac rehabilitation program. Relaxing in the hot tub afterwards was pleasant. First time I have been in the pool and hot tub since my surgery over four months ago.

Sunday ; Penticton ; HAPPY 64th BIRTHDAY TO JOANNE
Yes ... I will still need you ! Yes ... I will still feed you !
And to prove it ... this morning I made pancakes for brunch. Joanne loooooves my fluffy pancakes, one of my cooking specialties, learned from my Aunt Lena when I spent my summers working on her farm as a teenager.
After brunch and a walk with Ozzie, I decorated the birthday cake Joanne baked for herself last night. We cleaned and treated Ozzie's infected left ear. Can't seem to eliminate the last vestiges of infection ! Poor Ozzie. Hang in there, we'll keep trying.
At 5 PM we left for yet another trip to Penticton. We're now going to Penticton a minimum of three, often four times per week. We stopped in Keremeos to refill our five gallon water jug. In Penticton we refilled the minivan with fuel before heading to La Casa Ouzeria for Joanne's birthday dinner. It was our first time at this upscale Greek restaurant. Good food, good service, fine wine, nice ambience. Too bad they forgot that it was Joanne's birthday ! As I had advised them when I made the reservation ! I'm too critical to be forgiving of those kind of fumbles. I regret the tip that I left. I should have reduced it to reflect my displeasure. Oh, well ! I suppose the good food and good service were worth it.
We were back home around 9:20 PM. After we walked Ozzie I presented Joanne with her decorated and candle lit birthday cake, and a birthday card I created on the computer this afternoon.

Monday ; Penticton ; post-operative 4 months
Overcast, temperature above freezing, snow melting.
We left for Penticton at 1 PM. As we approached the South Okanagan Events Centre, where my cardiac rehabilitation fitness gym is located, we ran into traffic gridlock. Because ... this week the South Okanagan Events Centre is also the home of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Canada's women's curling national championship.
While I was at the gym from 2 PM until 3:45 PM Joanne ran errands in Penticton, including doing our main weekly shopping trip at Superstore. She picked me up at the gym and we were home by 5 PM.
Immediately upon arriving back home we took Ozzie for a walk. We were surprised by how much snow had melted, and how little remains.
Tuesday ; Mostly cloudy, temperature above freezing.
Busy day with Ozzie today. This morning we brushed his ( few remaining ) teeth, then cleaned and treated his infected left ear again. Now there's gunk coming out of it, a few days after I flushed it. Early this afternoon we gave him a haircut. Oh my goodness ! What a lot of long, thick hair he had ! And ... < sputter > ... he's a much smaller dog than we thought he was. HA HA HA ! He's lost six ( of thirty-three ) pounds in the four months that we have had him, and while he could still stand to lose a few more pounds, now that his hair is cut off, he looks much trimmer than we thought he was. We were afraid to give him a haircut because of cold weather, but we now realize his hair grows very fast, and very thick, and gets very matted ! ! ! We will have to give him a haircut every three months, and keep his hair shorter.

Wednesday ; Penticton
Set our alarm for 5:15 AM so that I could get up and view ( from the deck off our living room ) the total lunar eclipse at 5:30 AM. A once in a lifetime opportunity ; blue moon, super moon, blood moon ! Kind of threw my body clock out of whack for the rest of the day, though.
Headed to Penticton at 1 PM for my sixteenth of thirty cardiac rehabilitation fitness sessions from 2 PM to 3:45 PM. As always, Joanne ran shopping errands while I was at the gym. She now does our weekly errands in Penticton a couple of hours at a time, three times a week, while I am at the gym, instead of one long, hard day per week running errands in Penticton. After my fitness session I took the minivan to Great Canadian Oil Change for ... an oil change, of course ! We were back home around 5:15 PM.
We worked together to cook a veal schnitzel dinner which we ate while watching Amazing Race.
Thursday ; Overcast. Temperature slightly above freezing. Heavy snowfall late in the evening. DARN !
I did some minor maintenance work in the house, and on the minivan. I downloaded and analyzed the year end statements of our guaranteed income funds ( somewhat like annuities ).
Friday ; Penticton
Overcast. Last night's snow melting.
Shortly before leaving for Penticton I walked into the living room to find Emma and Ozzie sitting close together near the French doors leading to the deck off the living room. AND ... < sputter > ... Ozzie was enthusiastically licking the top of Emma's head. Who was sitting there looking quite enraptured. HA HA HA HA HA ! Well ... that was new !
On our way to Penticton the minivan "check engine" light came on. DARN ! The traffic jam leading to the South Okanagan Events Centre, due to the Scotties Tournament Of Hearts, created such gridlock that I got out of the car and walked to the gym from quite a distance away. Joanne shopped at Superstore and refilled the minivan with fuel while I was at my cardiac rehabilitation session. She picked me up at the gym and we went shopping at T-Bones Fresh Meal Market again, for more advertised specials. We bought rather expensive halibut burgers and had them for supper. MMMMM ... worth the cost !
Saturday ; Oliver and Osoyoos
Overcast. Raining in the evening.
After an early lunch we left home around noon headed for Oliver. We attended a SOAP ( South Okanagan Amateur Players ) performance of the Norm Foster play "Old Love" at Frank Venables Theatre. I liked the play. Joanne didn't. After the play we did a bit of grocery shopping at No Frills in Oliver before driving to Osoyoos for an early dinner at a Chinese buffet restaurant. We wanted to try a new restaurant. It was ... not very good ! Oh, well ... at least we got to try a new restaurant.
Driving home from Osoyoos in the dark in the rain was difficult and unpleasant. We spent the evening watching the quarter-finals of the Scotties Tournament Of Hearts and Saturday Night Live. The quarter-final game of the women's curling championship was ... Manitoba versus Manitoba Wild Card. Manitoba won. Too bad ... I was cheering for Manitoba Wild Card.
Gee ... Manitoba produces great curlers !

And to prove it ... this morning I made pancakes for brunch. Joanne loooooves my fluffy pancakes, one of my cooking specialties, learned from my Aunt Lena when I spent my summers working on her farm as a teenager.
After brunch and a walk with Ozzie, I decorated the birthday cake Joanne baked for herself last night. We cleaned and treated Ozzie's infected left ear. Can't seem to eliminate the last vestiges of infection ! Poor Ozzie. Hang in there, we'll keep trying.
At 5 PM we left for yet another trip to Penticton. We're now going to Penticton a minimum of three, often four times per week. We stopped in Keremeos to refill our five gallon water jug. In Penticton we refilled the minivan with fuel before heading to La Casa Ouzeria for Joanne's birthday dinner. It was our first time at this upscale Greek restaurant. Good food, good service, fine wine, nice ambience. Too bad they forgot that it was Joanne's birthday ! As I had advised them when I made the reservation ! I'm too critical to be forgiving of those kind of fumbles. I regret the tip that I left. I should have reduced it to reflect my displeasure. Oh, well ! I suppose the good food and good service were worth it.
We were back home around 9:20 PM. After we walked Ozzie I presented Joanne with her decorated and candle lit birthday cake, and a birthday card I created on the computer this afternoon.

Monday ; Penticton ; post-operative 4 months
Overcast, temperature above freezing, snow melting.
We left for Penticton at 1 PM. As we approached the South Okanagan Events Centre, where my cardiac rehabilitation fitness gym is located, we ran into traffic gridlock. Because ... this week the South Okanagan Events Centre is also the home of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Canada's women's curling national championship.
While I was at the gym from 2 PM until 3:45 PM Joanne ran errands in Penticton, including doing our main weekly shopping trip at Superstore. She picked me up at the gym and we were home by 5 PM.
Immediately upon arriving back home we took Ozzie for a walk. We were surprised by how much snow had melted, and how little remains.
Tuesday ; Mostly cloudy, temperature above freezing.
Busy day with Ozzie today. This morning we brushed his ( few remaining ) teeth, then cleaned and treated his infected left ear again. Now there's gunk coming out of it, a few days after I flushed it. Early this afternoon we gave him a haircut. Oh my goodness ! What a lot of long, thick hair he had ! And ... < sputter > ... he's a much smaller dog than we thought he was. HA HA HA ! He's lost six ( of thirty-three ) pounds in the four months that we have had him, and while he could still stand to lose a few more pounds, now that his hair is cut off, he looks much trimmer than we thought he was.
