Sunday ; Sunny and mild, windy in the afternoon.
HMPH ! This is the date on which we usually depart for our winter home in Yuma, Arizona.
I finished resetting clocks. We went for our two daily exercise walks. Joanne did laundry. I posted my weekly blog entry. I reconciled our bank statements. I did some monthly budget planning. I “created” and cooked supper ; jerk maple Sockeye salmon. It did not turn out as well as I had expected ... <shrug>.
Monday; Sunny and mild.
WHEW … today was a long and very tiring day of running errands in Penticton. Primary reason for the trip into Penticton was to go the sleep apnea clinic to pick up a CPAP machine for a one month trial. That included a fitting for the correct type and size of mask.
Shortly after we returned home I participated in a Medical Weight Management Zoom meeting, participating in the group medical session I missed when we were on our mushroom hunting course a few weeks ago.
Tonight’s supper was a pasta dish made with the wild Coral mushrooms we picked a few weeks ago at Box Lake. This is the second time we have harvested and eaten wild Coral mushrooms, but the first time we have eaten them after freezing them. HMPH ! Two evenings in a row with dinners that were less than stellar. Note to self ; leave Coral mushrooms in forest next time we find them !
Tuesday ; Sunny and cool.
Last night I used the CPAP machine for the first time. Lasted ten minutes ! ! ! HA HA HA ! I hated it ! Nevertheless, I gave it another try in the middle of the night, and again in the morning. Three tries … still hated it ! HA HA HA ! This morning I phoned CanSleep and discussed things with the Respiratory Therapist that assisted me yesterday. I committed to giving it another try. Which I did for about fifteen minutes at the beginning of my afternoon lap. Took it off and immediately fell asleep. HA HA HA ! Not looking good for the CPAP machine !
During our early (noon) walk we stopped at the home of our neighbour/friend Jeanine and visited for awhile. Before supper we did an aquatic exercise session in the swimming pool. Over our beef pot roast dinner, and for the rest of the evening we watched the US election results. Of course ! <sigh> I’m not encouraged (at 10 PM).
Wednesday ; Overcast/gloomy, cool, heavy rain in the evening.
<sigh> Well … here we are twenty-five hours later (11 PM ) and still no US Presidential election winner ! Oh, well … at least civil war hasn’t broken out yet !
I made a decision late last night after wearing the CPAP machine for about half an hour at bedtime. NOPE ! I just don’t like it ! It’s going back. I appreciate having had the opportunity to try it out.
I had my regular weekly Medical Weight Management group therapy Zoom meeting at suppertime. While I was on my hour and a half Zoom meeting Joanne “prepped” supper’s ingredients. After my Zoom meeting was over, I cooked another Udon noodle “creation”. It’s different each time. Tonight’s version was particularly good. Well done … good team work. We watched Amazing Race while eating supper.
Early this afternoon I had about an hour phone call with the chairman of the “stalled” seniors’ housing development in Lorette, Manitoba. <sigh> They’re still struggling with financial hurdles.
Thursday ; Rain overnight. Cloudy today, light rain in the morning.
Around lunch time we went into town (Keremeos) to run some errands. Priority was flu shots at the pharmacy, and picking up prescription refills at the pharmacy. We also bought groceries at the grocery store, refilled our five gallon water jug, bought coinage at the credit union, and … bought a wonderful take home dinner at Benja Thai, the local Thai restaurant.
We went for an early walk before leaving for town. I went to the swimming pool before supper and did an aquatics exercise session by myself. Joanne stayed glued to the TV, unable to tear herself away from Trump’s “press conference”. I did my “fat school” homework, and cleaned and prepared my CPAP trial machine to be returned.
Friday ; Sunny and cool.
Early walk, late walk, prescription accounting and records keeping, month end investment updates and analyses, Bachman and Bachman (Randy and Tal) weekly online concert. <sigh> Watching endless U.S. election news coverage.
Saturday ; Cloudy and cold.
HALLELUJAH ! Can you feel the world breathe a huge sigh of relief ? And hopefulness ? Now … R.I.P. RBG.
After a late pool exercise session we watched the Biden/Harris speeches. Is it just me ? Or was that truly inspiring ?
DSK
