Sunday
; Happy 70th
birthday to my sister Sharon
Seventy ? Jesus ! ! !
Sunny and warm.
Around lunch time I had a long
phone chat with my much older sister
< snicker >.
After lunch I was searching
for something in our shed. I was having difficulty finding it, and …
flipped into “purge” mode, throwing stuff out, setting stuff out
to be taken to the bargain table, and photographing items to post for
sale online.
Monday
:
Sunny
and cool. BRRRRR ! Where’s spring ? Joanne
cooked chicken chile verde in the Sun Oven today.
I
took
a propane tank from the trailer to be refilled today, leaving it at
our RV park’s propane refill station. I did some “spring
cleaning” in our shed. I’ve been in “purge” mode lately. I
continue to struggle to understand, and resolve, along with my
investment adviser’s office staff … < ahem > …
“discrepancies” in Joanne’s first “retirement” annuity
payment, received a few days ago.
Tuesday
;
Sunny
and cool.
This morning an item I ordered
from Amazon arrived. I ordered it before Christmas ! It got lost !
I re-ordered it, and it arrived within a few days. Now the package
that has been lost for about a month and a half has arrived. HMPH !
I wonder if I get to keep it ? Without paying for it a second time ?
This afternoon we took our
recycling to the recycling depot. I wonder if all that stuff we
drop off there is actually recycled ? Or does it all just end up in
the garbage / landfill somewhere ? Arizona seems twenty or thirty
years behind British Columbia and Ontario in how it processes
recyclables.
Late
in the afternoon I assisted Joanne with cleaning underneath the range
top. YUCK ! And I continued the ongoing “debate” I am having
with my investment adviser’s assistant about Joanne’s recent
first annuity payment. I am certain that a mistake has been made.
And if it doesn’t
get clarified / corrected immediately there may be long term
repercussions !
Wednesday
; Los Algodones, Baja California, Mexico
Sunny and cool. It started
raining a few minutes after we returned home from Mexico around 6:30
PM, and continued throughout the evening.
We left home shortly after 11
AM, heading for Mexico, where Joanne had her final appointment for
sclerotherapy at noon. After we walked across the border, Joanne
went to the medical clinic and I walked across town to the veterinary
pharmacy. I bought some pet ear drops then walked back to the
medical clinic near the border. Joanne was still waiting to see the
dermatologist ! She finally got in to see the doctor at 1:05 PM,
sixty-five minutes late. This a common, and extremely irritating to
me, problem with Mexican doctors and dentists in January and
February. In order to “make hay while the sun shines”, they
accommodate walk in clients, at the expense of their patients with
appointments.
We were out of the medical
clinic at 1:30 P.M. and walked across town again to pick up our four
pairs of glasses at the ophthalmologist's / optician’s. After
getting our new glasses ( EXCELLENT ! ) we went for a late lunch at
Taqueira Molcas, our “regular” / favourite Los Algodones
restaurant. MMMMM … great goat meat tacos ! HA HA HA ! I’m not
kidding ! Joanne had tres tacos carne asada, and I had tres tacos,
uno camaron ( shrimp ), uno carne asada ( seasoned beef ), y uno
chivo
( goat ). With a Fanta Naranja for Joanne, and a Coca-Cola
Light for me, the bill was U.S.$13. HMPH ! Price increases !
After lunch we went for
pedicures. Mine took less time than Joanne’s, so while she was
getting her nails painted, and waiting for them to dry,
I went
shopping for medications, comparing prices at five different
pharmacies before buying what I needed. I returned to the beauty
shop to pick up Joanne, and we headed back to the border crossing. <
sigh > Longest line up this season ! Took an hour and forty-five
minutes to get across … < sigh >… ! We passed the time
chatting with the two American couples in line in front of us,
relative “newbies” to “medical tourism” in Los Algodones.
Thursday
; Valentine’s Day
Overcast, raining, mild.
This is the rain that has
caused flooding and mudslides and death and destruction just a few
hours west and northwest of here, in San Diego and Palm Springs.
But, as usual … Yuma seems immune to significant weather. How nice
!
This morning our neighbour
across the street, Bebe ( Miss Thailand 1969 ? ) brought over a box
of Valentine’s chocolates for Joanne.
< shrug >
I was very lazy today. Too
lazy to go to the Humane Society for our weekly volunteer session.
The cat wing is currently quarantined, which meant that either I
would go by myself, or Joanne would have to join me in the dog
kennels, and we would have both ended up walking unruly pit bulls …
in the rain. I chose to nap instead. HA HA HA !
I puttered around on the
computer doing vision care and medical expense records keeping. You
know … OCD stuff ! HA HA HA !
We suspect that Ozzie may have
a urinary tract infection. We began administering Amoxicillin to him
today, and we’ll see if there is improvement over the next few
days. If not … off to the vet goes Ozzie !
Friday
;
Cloudy
and mild.
This
afternoon our friends David and Shauna came over ( without their dog
Zona ) for a visit in our Arizona room. Shauna was interested in
learning about “casino camping”. Afterwards Joanne went shopping
by herself. I continued working out details of our pending
annuities. One of our four annuities began paying out this month,
and the first payment was … < ahem > … wrong !
Saturday
;
Sunny,
mild, windy.
This
morning we trimmed Ozzie’s claws. This afternoon I purged “my”
bedroom cupboard. YIKES ! What a lot of stuff that I haven’t used
in five years or more. Most of it went to the bargain table. Some
of it went to recycling. Joanne went out to run some shopping
errands by
herself.
