February 27 to March 5, 2022

Sunday ; Sunny and very warm.

Summer” has returned to Palm Springs. The “crowds” at Sky Valley Resort have dissipated once again. Our lengthy late morning exercise and soak sessions in the mineral warm and hot pools have resumed. AHHHHH !

After lunch I had a long nap. While I napped Joanne sat outside on our patio soaking up sunshine. When I was finished napping, Joanne came inside and … HA HA HA … had a long nap. To paraphase … tough life, but somebody has to live it. HA HA HA <SNORT> HA HA !

Monday ; Sunny and very warm, gentle, warm Santa Ana winds.

Long exercise session in the very warm (smaller) mineral pool, short soak in the hot mineral pool, lunch.

After lunch we drove into Desert Hot Springs. I dropped Joanne off at Vons and I took the truck to Singh Automotive for a brief follow-up to the fluids service of two weeks ago, then returned to Vons to join Joanne for grocery shopping.

Afternoon nap, long walk at dusk, for supper I cooked an Udon noodle stir fry, one of my specialties.

Tuesday ; LAMB or LION ? ? ? Sunny, 91°F / 33°C, no wind. HA HA HA !

Needless to say … long mineral pool exercise session this morning. Nap after lunch.

Wednesday ; Sunny and very hot again, same conditions as yesterday. But it won’t last long.

Spent the day running errands in Palm Desert and Cathedral City. Bought a large bag of mushrooms at the Palm Desert Farmers’ Market ; Black King Oyster, Yellow Oyster, and Snow Oyster Mushrooms. Sauteed some for supper with barbecued Petite Sirloin Steak. MMMMM ! ! ! Watched the season finale of Amazing Race while we had supper.

Thursday ; Sunny and very hot again, winds picking up in the evening.

Went to Village Fest in downtown Palm Springs tonight. Village Fest is downtown every Thursday night. From 6 PM to 9 PM about a one mile stretch of the main downtown street, Palm Canyon Drive, is closed to traffic and becomes a pedestrian mall.

Have been many times before. Not as interesting as it used to be. Less vendors. More people. No farmers’ market. None of the many food vendors inspired us enough to buy their food. Went home and I made Oyster Mushroom omelettes for a late supper.

On the way to Village Fest we took a bit of a side trip down memory lane and drove by Guide Dogs Of The Desert where we briefly “WorkCamped” in late 2005. That experience brought us to Palm Springs for the first time. And while the WorkCamping “job” was a disaster, and convinced us to never again do another WorkCamping job, it introduced us to this area, which has become one of our all time favourite places.

Friday ; Mix of sun and clouds, extremely windy (AGAIN !), cool early in the day, chilly later in the day.

We did our regular exercise session in the warm mineral pool and soak in the hot mineral pool before lunch, despite the cooling temperature and increasing wind. By the time we did our late afternoon exercise walk just before dusk, the winds were extremely strong.

Saturday ; Sunny, cold, very windy.

SO … another lazy day, mostly indoors, only one exercise walk.
