June 23 to 29, 2013

Sunday ; Today was mostly sunny and mild, a bit humid. Oddly, we had a 5½ hour power outage, from 3:45 PM until 9:15 PM.

This morning I worked on the bathroom trailer ceiling replacement project, reinstalling everything except the light fixture. I need to buy a new light fixture. The old one had corrosion underneath it. I've done as much as I can until I buy more supplies in Penticton on Tuesday. I need moulding and caulking ... and a 12V light fixture.

We spent much of the afternoon with a family from Westbank a.k.a. West Kelowna who came out to view lot 89 and the rest of Riverside RV Park Resort as potential purchasers of lot 89.

Monday ; Today was cloudy, cool, and raining for much of the day. And I was sick. Yesterday
I accepted a neighbour's invitation to have a beer. On a completely empty stomach. And not too long thereafter, I began to feel ill with a colitis flare-up. Which lasted for about twenty-four hours, until late afternoon today.

Yesterday's power outage was caused by a landslide very nearby. A mountain side let go, and a rockslide came tumbling down, ripping out power lines and poles, setting dry grass on fire, and sending vehicle sized boulders bouncing onto the highway a mile or so east of here, between our RV park and the village of Keremeos. The highway was closed for the afternoon and early evening. The potential purchasers of lot 89 that were here yesterday afternoon would have been delayed by that road closure a few minutes after they left here.

Tuesday ; Partially sunny, partially cloudy, mild temperature, light rain in the evening.

Another long day of running errands in Penticton. How do we manage to spend three to four hundred dollars every week in Penticton ? ! ? Gee, we live much more cheaply during the winter in Yuma due to lower fuel prices, and much lower grocery prices in the United States.

Wednesday ; Don't you just love passive-aggressive games playing by a dickweed who spends a lot of other people's money to undertake a project that nobody really cares about ... and then doesn't finish it ? ? ? ! ! !

This morning I installed a new roof vent on our next door neighbour's utility trailer. Then ... spent 4½ hours shovelling rocks from a pile across the road into a wheelbarrow ... load after load after load .... while being eaten alive by mosquitoes because I was sweating like a pig ... then wheeling them across the road to shovel them out of the wheelbarrow onto the unfinished rock wall rock garden rockscaping project on the common area land at the bottom of our front yard slope ! We ... and our neighbours ... reluctantly concluded recently that if we didn't each finish up this project adjacent to each of our own properties, it wasn't going to get finished ! ! !

Thursday ; WOO-HOO, WOO-HOO, WOO-HOO ( says Bo ) ! First day of Saskatoon harvest 2013.

Bo was in a frantic feeding frenzy, in the bed of the truck, harvesting Saskatoons.

Joanne baked a Saskatoon pie. And baked some Saskatoon muffins. And made some stewed Saskatoon compote to be frozen, to be added to yoghurt next winter in Yuma, Arizona. MMMMM ! ! !

I installed a new light fixture on the trailer bathroom new ceiling.

Friday ; Happy 49th Birthday to Joanne's sister Lorraine

Today was sunny, very warm, and humid. We have a few extremely hot days coming up !

I spent much of today continuing work on the trailer bathroom ceiling replacement project. Today
I measured and cut all the pieces of moulding. Lots of 45 degree angles. Lots of precision sawing required. I also worked with a neighbour on a difficult home maintenance job he had to do. Lots of work on a ladder, which he is uncomfortable with. Sustained only two injuries < rolling eyes > ! OUCH !

And ... I finally sold our TV stand / bookcase, one of the three pieces of surplus furniture we have been trying to sell since I recently wall mounted the new TV we bought in Yuma on American Thanksgiving.

Saturday ; Today was sunny, very warm, and humid ... again. I slept late and had a slow start to my day while Joanne went into town early to run some errands and check out some local yard sales. When she returned we harvested Saskatoons again. WOW ... they ripen quickly ! Hard to believe that we harvested as much today as we did only two days ago. Bo was thrilled !

This afternoon I worked on installing the new mouldings in the trailer bathroom ceiling rebuild / replacement project. My progress was not as great as I would have liked. I was interrupted by socializing with neighbours.

Busy long weekend here. Lots of visitors in the park. Lots of traffic on the highway.
