Chimacum & Sequim, Washington

YEAR 2 DAY 140

Today was cloudy, cool, and windy. The sun peeked out for a few minutes this afternoon.

This morning after regular morning routines, and preventive maintenance, I trimmed my beard, and decided that was enough work for the morning. I went back to sleep until noon. HA HA !

After lunch we went exploring. We drove south on Hwy. 20 to Hwy. 101, then west on Hwy. 101 to the small city of Sequim. As we entered Sequim, we stopped at a Native art gallery. It was one of the most interesting Native art shops we've been to. They had a very good inventory of small, reasonably priced painted wood carvings. If we had a "brick and stick" home, I would have bought something. I bought a small painted wood carving Christmas ornament as a gift for Joanne. Next stop was the large Native casino, to see the small Native art gallery in the casino. It was an interesting small art gallery, and an even more interesting large casino. We drove though the city of Sequim, following the "Dungeness Scenic Drive" through town and out towards the Dungeness Recreation Area and Dungeness Spit. We stopped at one of the half dozen or so lavender garden businesses in the area. Sequim bills itself as the lavender capital of the world. We bought some lavender gifts. We continued on the scenic drive, and stopped at the entrance to the Dungeness Spit. At 5 miles long, it's the longest sand spit in the world. There was a $3 per person entry fee, dogs weren't allowed, and the hike to the spit was 5 miles ... in the cold rain. Goodbye ! We finished the circuitous ( not so ) scenic drive, and back into Sequim. We stopped at another lavender garden shop and bought another lavender gift. Last stop was the mall on the edge of town. I filled Dee-Dee with diesel, and we bought groceries. By then it was already dark. We drove back to Chimacum, and Evergreen Coho SKP Park.

While Joanne prepared supper, I went to the clubhouse and got online. I retrieved e-mail, updated my blog, retrieved my October bank statements, and filed our quarterly corporate GST return. I returned to the trailer for supper. At the grocery store I had bought myself some local seafood for suppers. A freshly made crab cake for tonight, and freshly made salmon patty for some other time. Pork chops for Joanne. The crab cake was great ! After supper I worked on today's accounting, and began to work on today's journal entry. DAMN ! I discovered that I made a large error on the GST return. I won't be able to correct it until filing the next return, in February.
