Myrtle Beach to Kinards, South Carolina

YEAR 2 DAY 285

Today was sunny and warm. The weather on the Atlantic coast has been a bit cool for the last few days, but there is a high pressure warm front moving in from the west, and we were driving into it today.

This morning after preventive maintenance I took Bo for an obedience training walk before preparing for departure from Myrtle Beach State Park. Bo is back to doing extremely well at obedience. We pulled out of our campsite, emptied all the waste holding tanks at the trailer dump station, then drove through the city of Myrtle Beach heading for a Wal-Mart. At Wal-Mart I unhitched, and took Dee-Dee for an oil change. While the truck was being serviced we went inside and did some grocery shopping. By the time we were finished our grocery shopping, the truck was ready. We hitched up and sat down to figure out where we were going before pulling out of Wal-Mart's parking lot. Joanne wanted to drive a bit further north into North Carolina and check out some of the beach towns. I wanted to head west towards the Escapee park in Tennessee. We discussed it, and I won. We drove from Wal-Mart to the nearby Camping World, where I bought a replacement door restraint to replace the one I broke a few days. From Camping World we headed west on Hwy. 501, looking for a service station that had diesel. We passed a lot of service stations that didn't have diesel, which is unusual, particularly on a main highway. We finally found diesel at a Hess station at Conway, about 14 miles west of Myrtle Beach.

After filling up we drove west on Hwy. 501, stopping for a late lunch near the town of Pee Dee. At Florence we got onto Interstate 20. Halfway to Columbia, we changed drivers and Joanne drove to Columbia. She hasn't driven the rig for a couple of weeks. At Columbia, we pulled into a Flying J to fill up with diesel again, and change drivers. Joanne had difficulty getting the rig into the pump islands. We quickly changed drivers, I backed the rig out, and brought it back into the pump islands. After filling up, we got onto Interstate 26 heading northwest. We drove to Magnolia Family Campground near Kinards. We wanted to make it this far tonight because it's about the halfway point between Myrtle Beach and the Escapee park near Knoxville, Tennessee.

We parked and set up in the campground, then took a walk around. We prepared a homemade pizza for supper. I make good pizza ! We watched TV while I did today's accounting and journal.
