Keremeos, Hedley, Kaleden, Okanagan Falls, Oliver, & Osoyoos, B.C.

YEAR 2 DAY 105

Today was cloudy, windy, and warm.

This morning after feeding the animals, walking Bo, and having breakfast, Teddy made it obvious he wanted some "morning love ups". I lay down on the bed, he lay on my chest, I read a book with one hand and petted Teddy with the other until we both fell asleep. So much for the morning. After napping with Teddy and showering, Joanne and I walked around the park, checking it out, and counting how many of the 60 sites were occupied by RV's, and how many were occupied by "park model" trailers / modular homes. This place bills itself as an RV Park, by RV'ers, for RV'ers, but almost half the sites are occupied by non-mobile homes ! We chatted with the resident of the site next to the one we're in. He had a much more positive view towards this park, and living here, then I got from Mr. Timmerman last night. He did however comment that it was impossible to get 100 to 120 residents of a co-op to reach a consensus on anything.

We had lunch, I did preventive maintenance, we unhitched, and set off for a day of exploring the area. We headed west on Hwy. 3 to Hedley, a small, old mining town. We drove around the town exploring. We came back east on Hwy. 3, past the SunKatchers RV Park and into Keremeos. We stopped at the Tourist Information Centre and picked up some information, then drove around Keremeos exploring a bit. We headed north Hwy. 3A almost to Penticton, turning south on Hwy. 97 at Kaleden. We drove south on Hwy. 97 exploring the area through Okanagan Falls and down to Oliver. At Oliver we wanted to check out an RV Park the Huggard's had told us about. They were planning to spend 3 months there starting in October. We found the park and turned in to take a look. We found the Huggard's, who had just arrived and were getting set up. We visited with them briefly. It was a nice park, at a very reasonable rate, on a monthly basis in the fall "off season". The park is adjacent to the airport, and small planes can be seen taking off and landing just beyond the park's fence. I'd like to stay there next October. We continued south on Hwy. 97 to Osoyoos, where we turned west on Hwy. 3 to return through Keremeos to the SunKatchers RV Park.

We've reached the conclusion that this park is not where we want to reside.
