DAY 56

Ahhhhh ... back "home" in the Danelak's front yard, the Grand Beach vacation over. Everybody survived.

We all had a good time, I think. The weather wasn't great, but improved steadily from beginning to end. Today was actually sunny and warm for awhile in the early afternoon. We repeated our regular morning routine ; Uncle Dan showered first thing, then took Madeleine and Amelia to the playground while Lorraine and Joanne went for showers. Amelia is capable of doing things on the play structure that were beyond her capabilities a few days ago. Way to go, Amelia. She's nicknamed Amelia "I don't need any help" Carlson. We incorporated some frog hunting ( of course ) into our playground session. After lunch, we packed up for departure, then went over to West Beach for the afternoon. Amelia played in the sand at the water's edge with Uncle Dan and Mom, while Madeleine played in the water with Aunt Joanne. We goofed around on the beach for a couple of hours until the sun disappeared behind clouds and the wind picked up a bit. Then it began to cool off rapidly, so we left the beach, bought some hot dogs and fries, and ate a snack in the picnic area before beginning the drive home. Amelia was having difficulty staying awake already.

Once again, I drove the truck and trailer, while Joanne drove Carlson's van following. Lorri is uncomfortable driving on the highway. An hour or so driving south on Hwy. 12 and Hwy. 59, and we're back in Winnipeg . I headed east to Lorette on Hwy.1, and Joanne headed west on Hwy.1 into the city to take the Carlsons home, and pick up our van.

By the time I had the trailer parked and set up ( slides extended, stabilizers down, etc. ), and had visited briefly with Sharon and Bud, Joanne was home. Sharon provided us with supper to take back to our trailer. MMMMM ... beef and barley soup, and beet leaf and barley holuptsi. Thank you, Sharon. You’re a good “big sister”.

After supper, I planned and prioritized my “to do” lists for the next week or so, then downloaded and enhanced my photos from the Ukrainian Festival in Dauphin. It's approaching 10:00 P.M. and I'm sleepy ! Those little girls tired Uncle Dan out !
