DAY 41
DAMN ! Missed half of last night's episode of "Amazing Race" because I was wrong about the starting time.
This morning's weather report on "Aboriginal Radio" ; "kinda crappy and cool". Boy, I'll say ! Cold, cloudy, windy, occasional misty rain. The evening was so cold I could see my breath. Too cold for July.
Started the day by finishing up the rest of my maintenance chores. Went up on the roof of the trailer and fixed the bathroom skylight. Fixed a kitchen drawer which keeps coming open when we travel.
After lunch, we drove around to see all the rest of the campground, then over to Wasagaming to explore the village on foot. Nice resort town. A few upscale lodges and restaurants. Quite a few gift and souvenir type stores. Plenty of snack and treat places. Went to the National Park Visitor Centre. Lots of taxpayer dollars being spent there ! No wonder the fees are so high.
Drove out of the park, and 5 km. south to Onanole to mail a letter. No Post Office in Wasagaming. Bought a few groceries in Onanole. I remembered that the husband of one of Joanne's breast cancer friends was wearing a cap from Onanole when they came to our recent open house / garage / yard sale in Ottawa. He was amazed that I actually knew where Onanole was.
Drove back to the trailer, read the newspaper, took a long nap. Too cold to do much of anything else. For supper, barbecued salmon on a cedar plank for the first time. Interesting. Made a campfire and sat around for awhile. Needed a sweater and a jacket !
