DAY 53
Well, the long awaited outing to Grand Beach with the little nieces has arrived. As we drove out to Grand Beach, on a cold, windy, rainy day, I was quite surprised to hear the weather report on the radio. The current temperature, as we drove out in early afternoon, was the high for the day. 10 degrees Celsius ! ! ! With a night time low of 6 degrees ! ! ! Not exactly the ideal weather for 3 days at the beach with a couple of little girls.
After arriving at Grand Beach, and eating lunch, we hiked over to the beach. It was quite a bit further from our trailer than I would like, but ... our campsite is very convenient to showers and bathrooms. Next time we go to the beach, I think we'll drive. We were all wearing jackets with hoods, with the hoods pulled up. Light rain, strong wind, huge waves. We walked back to the trailer, studying nature things like birch bark. While Joanne and Lorri worked on supper, I read stories to the girls. Making supper ... indeed, everything ... seemed a lot more time consuming, and complicated, with 3 adults and 2 little children in the trailer. Setting up the guest bed ( the sofa bed ) getting the girls ready for bed, setting up a video for them to watch, getting them to the bathroom, teeth brushed, etc. seemed to take a long time, and a lot of effort. They're on the bed now, watching a children's video Sharon lent us for this trip. Tomorrow's weather isn't going to be much better than today. That's really unfortunate, because none of us, the girls included, wants to be stuck in the trailer due to weather.
