DAY 52
Today was a cloudy, cool, rainy day. YUCK !
Spent the afternoon visiting with Shirley and Darcy Johnson, and their 10 year old son, Eric. Their 17 year old daughter Sheryl is away at her summer job in the Muskoka vacation region, north of Toronto. We went to high school with Shirley. Joanne and Shirley were best friends in high school and beyond. Shirley was Joanne's maid of honour at our wedding. We've known Darcy since Shirley and Darcy were dating, going back to their university days, I guess. Darcy is a physician, and my old curling and drinking buddy. I recall a memorable evening spent with Darcy in Toronto while I was on assignment for Canada Post in London, Ontario, and Darcy was at McMaster University in Hamilton writing some medical licensing examination or something, about 22 or so years ago ... ! We sort of did our version of the old Saturday Night Live routine with Steve Martin and Dan Akroyd being a "couple of wild and crazy guys", small town "hicks" ( from Macedonia ! ) doing the big city. Fried a few brain cells that night, didn't we, Darcy ? Their son Eric has the most remarkable interest in, and understanding of building ( and trailer ) "systems" ; plumbing, electrical, hydraulics, etc..
We prepared supper for the Danelak's ( and Andrea's boyfriend George ) when they returned from Rushing River Provincial Park early in the evening. After supper, we sat around and chatted for the rest of the evening.
