DAY 26

When I flew myself from Ottawa to Winnipeg and back, a couple of few years ago, in Cessna 172 C-GCVO, the two places that caused me grief were Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie. It was the same on this road trip from Ottawa to Winnipeg. Remind me to remove Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie from my list of places to re-visit.

The truck was ready by 10:00 A.M. this morning. The GM dealership's service department was able to remove the exhaust manifold crossover pipe from the exhaust manifolds with only one bolt breaking. They drilled out the bolt and re-tapped the threads, adding about an hour to the bill, which was $255. A hell of a lot better than Canadian Tire's $1630 !

Picked up the truck, filled it with diesel, while Joanne bought groceries and filled the van with gas, drove back to the campground, hitched up, dumped the tanks, and we were on the road by noon. From Sault Ste. Marie north along the east coast of Lake Superior to Wawa, then west along the north shore of Lake Superior all the way to Rainbow Falls Provincial Park just past Terrace Bay and Schreiber. A long, hard day of driving, to get about 2/3 of the way from Sault Ste. Marie to Thunder Bay.
